Hangout Music Festival takes place May 20th through May 22nd, 2022 in Gulf Shores, AL

Hangout Music Festival is coming up! Alabama's biggest annual music event, Hangout brings artists from across the world to Alabama's front step. This year's festival takes place Friday May 20th through Sunday May 22nd and features artists like Post Malone, Fall Out Boy, Halsey, Doja Cat, Tame Impala, Megan Thee Stallion, and many, many more. WEGL is going to be bringing you coverage from the front lines, with articles covering the entire festival.

WEGL's been lucky enough to cover many of the artists on Hangout's bill this past year, from headliner Phoebe Bridgers, Auburn alumni The Brook & The Bluff, and half a dozen more. Familiarize yourself with what we think are some of the best artists on the bill and check out our coverage of their previous performances!

Phoebe Bridgers is set to perform as one of Hangout's top billed artists. The indie rock superstar has gained a huge following recently, headlining Avondale Brewing Company in Birmingham alongside many festival appearances. He poetic and often dismal writing has garnered her attention from fans across all backgrounds as they relate to her writing. Phoebe's set is at 6:45pm on the Surf Stage on Saturday.

Auburn alumni The Brook & The Bluff hit the Hangout Stage at 2:15pm on Sunday. These folk-rockers have had quite the rise since their time on the plains, touring with bands like Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Ashe to kick off the year, and will hit the road with Mt. Joy later on. The band has also headlined massive rooms like The Alabama Theatre and Georgia Theatre. Their harmonies and danceable guitar licks will make them a crowd favorite.

For fans of COIN, Half Alive, and Wallows, make sure you catch Dayglow. This Fort Worth native is sure to bring the party with his catchy brand of alternative pop. WEGL caught him headline a show last October where he sold out Center Stage Theater to a wild crowd. Dayglow takes the stage at 3:15pm on Surf Stage on Friday.

Did Dayglow catch your ear? If so you're bound to also love The Band CAMINO! WEGL just saw this trio during their sold out show in Birmingham last month and it was a special one. After being cut short due to rain, I know these guys are going to be ready to see Alabama again. The Band CAMINO takes on The Surf Stage on Saturday at 6:45pm.

Who doesn't love some local legends? Many of Moon Taxi's founding members are Alabama natives, coming up out of Vestavia Hills! This alternative rock band isn't afraid of the funky side, adding in horns and plenty of synths to keep things grooving. Doesn't sound like your style? Well the group is also know to break out into some jam sessions that are sure to get you moving! Want to hear more? Check out WEGL's coverage of their Birmingham concert from last October! Moon Taxi plays at 3:00pm on Saturday at the Surf Stage.

Wild and rockin', Briston Maroney plays at 7:00 on the BMI Mermaid on Friday. WEGL's been following Maroney since his debut way back in 2015. We've recently covered his gigs in Birmingham and Atlanta as well as an opening slot for Manchester Orchestra. His earnest brand of rock'n'roll mixed with a high energy performance makes for a great live show.

Flipturn are one of the most exciting bands on the rise today. WEGL caught their Shaky Knees Late Night show last month and it was one for the books. The band opens up the Hangout Stage on Sunday at 12:45pm, getting the crowd ready for The Brook & The Bluff who follow them up. Smooth yet folky, these rockers know how to write a catchy tune.

Lastly we have Hastings. Still super fresh on the scene, one of the lowest billed artists in the entire festival, he's not one you're going to want to miss. Hastings has recently been on tour with The Band CAMINO and made his voice known at their show in Birmingham. Poppy and relatable, his music is TikTok friendly while still appealing to those who swear off that sound. Catch him on the BMI Mermaid Stage on Saturday at 3:45pm.

Keep your eyes peeled as we approach Hangout Music Festival next weekend as we'll have you up-to-date with coverage all weekend long!
