Entering game three of the season, the Auburn hockey club has started out undefeated and looks to stay that way against Mississippi State this Friday. The team so far has looked stellar, scoring a combined fifteen goals and only allowing six points through two games.
The high scoring Tiger offense is led by Blake Robinson with 6 goals himself, and Henry Humphrey and Brandon Weiss tied for second on the team with 5 goals each. The team got out to a hot start game one against Georgia Tech, dropping 6 goals whilst goalie Hayden Harris and the Tiger defense stifled a late game comeback attempt by the Jackets.
They then road that momentum to get a convincing 9-2 win over Lynn and our now looking forward to their next opponent, the Mississippi State “Ice Dawgs”. This is the Bulldogs season opener on Auburn’s home ice, which can come at an advantage or a disadvantage, while they are more rested than Auburn, they have yet to get into a groove like the one Auburn seems to be in now. If the teams last contest is any indication, Mississippi State should be a good competitor for the Tigers to play early on.
The Tigers hope to keep up their dominant play on both ends of the ice and send the Bulldogs home with a season opening loss.
Auburn football wasn't the Auburn team in action on Saturday. Auburn women’s basketball was back in action for its second game of the season, notching its second win in a close one, 66-64 over Samford.
