Walking down the concourse never felt less intimidating, all while listening to the bright tunes WEGL 91.1 has to offer. Here are the Wedneday radio personalities for our on-air programming, so sit back --or not--, relax --if you want to--, and without a doubt, enjoy.
Jams in the Cloud
It’s smooth sailing with Miles Carter on Jams in the Cloud, a variety show traveling through all genres. From hiphop, to reggae, to jazz, to folk , Jams in the Cloud provides a new sound each week, making sure good tunes are found in the journey rather than the destination.
A junior in pro-flight, Carter moves through his playlists at the speed of an airliner, allowing listeners to sit back and put up their feet while enjoying this first class program.
Tune in to listen to artists such as Billy Strings, The Grateful Dead, Tony Rice and Doc Watson.
Analog Static
Do you miss the feeling of flipping through TV channels at 2am? Analog Static recreates that feeling in an intimate space, making memories within dim lights and spinning vinyls.
Juniors David Wheeler and Troy Adkison bounce off each other with hilarious chemistry and deep, unrelenting passion for the music they love. With genres ranging from Midwest Emo to Jazz, and artists from Pink Floyd to Current Joys, it’s hard to say what exactly one will hear when tuning in. Turn that dial Wednesday’s at 5pm to join Troy and David in a fireplace discussion for all kinds of music lovers.
Magical Mystery Hour
Mary Morgan Scott’s Magical Mystery Hour is a colorful whirlwind of messy chic, including artists such as Japanese Breakfast, Wilco, and Francoise Hardy. A senior studying French, Scott’s love for music stems from childhood, and she now wishes to open up her library of music to provide clusters of songs for all who wish to hear.
Don’t miss the chance to get caught up in the wonderful storm, Wednesdays at 7pm.
The Waxing Hour
Late at night in the middle of each week, the Wax Villain hatches a new plot on The Waxing Hour, Auburn’s resident hip hop station. When Senior Gerrit Notch enters the room, lights flicker and the room fills with smoke, emerging out of the straight heat spinning in the studio.
Join the Villain for his hour of treachery to get your fair share of Madlib, Freddie Gibbs, Lil Ugly Mane, and Kendrick Lamar, Wednesdays at 9pm.
Loser Music
Under the stars Loser Music shines bright, with somber tunes that pull your heart strings straight from the soul. Charlie Timberlake’s show is a safe space to explore all of the music you are afraid people will judge you for.
Songs for strolls on wet sidewalks and nights that feel too cold in October. Come fall in love with the acoustic guitars, melancholic vocalists, and bittersweet riffs.
Tune in Wednesday’s at 10pm for music from all your favorite beautiful losers such as: Elliot Smith, Modern Baseball, Wilco, The Smith’s, and American Football.
