Swamped: Auburn Volleyball Gets Swept by the Florida Gators 3-0

Auburn, AL: In one of the most anticipated matches in Auburn volleyball history, the 14th ranked Florida Gators swept the Auburn Tigers in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-15). While the score may not reflect, the Tigers never backed down during the match and competed until the end.

The first set was a very hard-fought battle between both teams, with the Florida Gators finding a way in the end to come out of the set with the 25-23 win over the Auburn Tigers. With the Gators having a .556 hitting percentage along with 18 kills was just too much for the Auburn tigers to overcome, even though Florida committed five service errors.

The second set went the way of the Gators as well, with Florida taking the set over the Tigers 25-18. In quite a chaotic set, neither team played the best that they could have. Florida had a .200 hitting percentage and Auburn had a -.056 hitting percentage, both teams did not have a productive offensive set, while also both teams combined for 17 attack errors in this set. In the end, Florida was able to run away and take the 2-0 set advantage over the Tigers.

In the third set, Florida was able to finish Auburn off and complete the straight set sweep, winning 25-15. In this set, the Gators had complete control the entire time, having a .353 hitting percentage to the Tigers .148 hitting percentage, which in turn allowed Florida to have 17 kills.

After the loss, Auburn now sits with a 15-5 overall record with a 7-3 record in SEC play. Auburn will be back in action this weekend in Lexington, KY as the Tigers travel to take on the 20th ranked Kentucky Wildcats in a two game weekend series. Game one is on October 29th at 3 PM CST on the SEC Network + and game two will be on October 30that 12 PM CST on the SEC Network +.
