Auburn Volleyball Hosts Defending National Champions Kentucky In Final Two Home Matches

AUBURN, AL — Entering the final stretch of the 2021 season, Auburn Volleyball (13-12, 5-10 SEC) is set to host #8 Kentucky Wildcats (20-4, 13-1 SEC) on Saturday and Sunday afternoon in Auburn Arena.

For the Tigers, Saturday is Senior Day inside Auburn Arena. Before the match, there will be a special ceremony honoring the five current 2021 seniors on the roster: Val Green, Liz Reich, Bella Rosenthall, Tatum Shipes and Elif Yavuz.

The Wildcats, coming off a national championship win last season, sit atop of the SEC standings this season with four SEC games remaining. They are one game ahead of the Florida Gators, who the Wildcats will host for a two game season finale after their trip to Auburn.

Kentucky holds the all-time series lead against Auburn, 44-10, which includes the current 17-match win streak for the Wildcats. The last meeting between the two schools was in 2020, where Kentucky won in straight sets 3-0. Kentucky has also won 18 sets in a row against Auburn.

Auburn comes into this match after getting swept on the road at #20 Florida 3-0 on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Including the previous match, Auburn finishes the season playing the top three teams in the SEC standings (Florida, Kentucky 2x, and Mississippi State).

Kentucky is fresh off two sweeps at home against the Texas A&M Aggies. This extended the Wildcats streak of sweeps in a row to four.

Saturday’s match between the Tigers and Wildcats is set to begin at 4:30 PM CT, with the pre-match Senior Day ceremony taking place beforehand. Sunday’s match will begin at 1:00 PM CT. Both games will be at home in Auburn Arena and will also be broadcasted live on WEGL 91.1 FM and on weglfm.com, in conjunction with the Auburn Sports Network.
