Auburn Soccer moves to 1-0 in SEC play after a 3-nil win over Georgia

Auburn Soccer (7-1) completes a clean sheet over Georgia (7-2). After a lighting delayed start to the game and a lighting delayed 2nd half. The number 12th team in the nation, the Tigers, out shot the bulldogs 17-15 with 6 of those being shots on target. 

Auburn’s first goal came at the 9th minute by Anna Hadock, however it was not her last as she went on to score another at the 49th minute in the second half, that one being assisted by Olivia Candelino, and Mallory Mooney, leading to her 6th and 7th goals for the season. The 3rd and final goal was scored by Marissa Arias in the 69th minute. She was assisted by Carly Thatcher, Leading to her 3rd goal on the season 

Another story of the game is Maddie Prohaska producing her 3rd Clean sheet on the season and her first in SEC play. With Maddie producing 4 saves of Georgia ‘s 4 Shots on goal. This continues to be a strong suit of the tigers as they have only given up 6 goals through the 8 game season and goes on to start off SEC play with zero goals allowed. 

Georgia’s offense was somewhat halted by the Tiger’s defense as they were only able to put up 4 shots on Goal. Two of the Shots on goal were taken by Abby Boyan as she was the leader for the bulldogs in the shots on goal statistic. Georgia’s Goalkeeper had an even 3 saves and 3 goals given up, in the 3-0 loss. 

The Tigers will go on to continue their SEC season against the 13th ranked Tennessee Volunteers in Good Rocky Top Tennessee, as the volunteers come off a road loss to the Razorbacks. They will play each other on September 23rd.
