Auburn's run offense comes alive, defeats Ole Miss 31-16

The Auburn Tigers (4-3) travel to Mississippi to pay the Ole Miss Rebels (5-2) a visit marking the Tigers 5th game in SEC play this season.

1st Quarter (7-3 Auburn)

Auburn won the coin toss and chose to defer giving Ole Miss the ball to start the game. The Rebels marched down to Auburns 25 before settling for a field goal attempt by Luke Hogan but was blocked by Auburn’s DL Marlon Davidson.

The Tigers took advantage of their 1st possession with Jarrett Stidham and the Auburn offense marching 75 yards in 2 min. after a touchdown pass to JaTarvious Whitlow to finish the drive. Anders Carlson with the PAT giving Auburn the early 7-0 lead.

The Rebels 2nd possession lead by QB Jordan Ta’amu rushed for over 20 yards to get Ole Miss up to Auburn’s 32-yard line to which kicker Luke Hogan buried the field goal putting the Rebels on the board 7-3.

2nd Quarter (10-6 Auburn)

After a controversial spotting on 4th down, Auburn takes over on their own 48-yard line but only gain 11 yards with a 47-yard attempt by Anders Carlson missing it wide right.

In Mississippi’s 1st attempt in the 2nd quarter, Jordan Ta’amu drives to Auburn’s 22-yard line to which Luke Hogan chips in the 29-yarder bringing the Rebels within 1.

With a big run by JaTarvious Whitlow to bring Auburn in the red zone, Jarrett Stidham fails to finish the job allowing Anders Carlson to try his 3rd field goal attempt of the day which was good putting the Tigers up 10-6.

3rd Quarter (31-9)

Auburn received to begin the 2nd half of play where Seth Williams and Anthony Schwartz had big runs to set up Malik Miller with the eventual 1-yard TD. Anders Carlson with the PAT to further Auburn’s lead 17-6.

Shortly after, Ole Miss’s AJ Brown again had a big 32-yard catch to bring the Rebels into the Red Zone but again Jordan Ta’amu could not convert. This than set up Luke Hogan who is good from 35 yards accounting for all the Rebel’s 9 points.

With an already eventful 3rd quarter, the Tigers quickly get their way back in the endzone with a 54-yard run by JaTarvious Whitlow who fumbled in the endzone but recovered by Anthony Schwartz to ensure a 24-9 Auburn lead.

Auburn who began to run away with it late in the 3rd quarter, continued their old ways with a 62-yard run by Seth Williams and a 2-yard rushing TD for Malik Miller, his second of the game. Anders Carlson with the PAT 4/4 to put the Tigers up 31-9.

4th Quarter (31-16)

In Auburn’s runaway victory, the final quarter was rather quiet until the final few minutes where Jordan Ta’amu finally found AJ Brown for a 7-yard TD. 31-16 was the final score from todays game with Auburn getting their 2nd win in SEC play improving their record to 2-3.
