Hangout fest makes its triumphant return to Gulf Shores May 20-23 for a highly anticipated congregation of good music, food, and activities three years after the last festival took place in 2019. The 2020 lineup promised performances from Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone, Lana Del Ray, RL Grime and more, with the 2021 lineup ceasing to even be revealed to the public over COVID-19 concerns. 2022 festival-goers will be happy to hear that a lot of artists on the coveted 2020 lineup will be returning in May to Gulf Shores for what will be an epic celebration of humanity as we navigate a post-2020 world.

Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album, WHO CARES?, Rex Orange County seemed more than ready to hit the road again. A few one-off shows and two stops in Miami and St. Augustine separate the performer from his last stop in Atlanta in February 2020. That show was his last in the states before the pandemic. The No. 19 Auburn Tigers hosted the No. 16 Georgia Bulldogs for a three-game set at Jane B. Moore Field this weekend. Auburn came into this series after taking two out of three games against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville, MS last weekend and beating Alabama State in Montgomery on Wednesday night. Georgia came into this series after dropping two out of three games to the LSU Tigers at home last weekend and knocking off the Furman Paladins at home on Wednesday night.

The No. 19 Auburn Tigers traveled up to Knoxville, TN for a three-game series with the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers. Auburn came into this series after sweeping the South Carolina Gamecocks at home last weekend and knocking off Jacksonville State on the road in Jacksonville, AL on Tuesday night. Tennessee came into this series after sweeping the Florida Gators in Gainesville, FL last weekend and beating Xavier at home on Tuesday night.

The No. 18 Auburn Tigers (30-12) (11-7 SEC) travelled to Jacksonville State (18-20) (11-7 ASUN) with a six-game win streak in their sails, the Tigers were of course looking for their seventh win, to boast confidence going into the heavyweight matchup against No. 1 Tennessee this weekend, and as Head Coach Butch Thompson said “This was a good win for us," as the Tigers picked the win 8-4, thanks to a combination of Brody Moore’s hitting and an amazing defensive displays from Kason Howell.

The No. 18 Auburn Tigers (36-10) (9-9 SEC) traveled to Starkville Mississippi on the backs of a five game win streak to set up what felt like a big fight feel against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. (29-19) (8-10 SEC) Despite starting slow with a 3-2 loss for the Tigers, but was quickly rectified in games two and three as the Tigers went on to win the series thanks to the big bats of Bri Ellis and Nelia Peralta, and another big weekend from Maddie Penta.

After coming off four previous games won in run rule, there where high hopes that it could be done again as the No. 18 Auburn Tigers (24-9) (7-8 SEC) took on the Chattanooga Mocs (21-19) (5-4 SOCON) in what was a dominate, all though not perfect, performance from the Tigers, as Auburn won 7-3.

Today’s Senior Staff Spotlight goes to Jack Hart, otherwise known as president pro tempore! Jack is a soon-to-be graduate studying industrial and systems engineering with a minor in business. He’s been a WEGL member for five years and is currently holding the position as production director. Jack’s show, Compact Discourse, is a morning drive time show that covers topics ranging from current events, sports, and even the weather.
