HOOVER, Ala. - Auburn lined up against the Samford Bulldogs on Tuesday and pitched a shutout with Christian Chatterton getting the win. Chatterton pitched six innings and let up only one hit through his campaign.
Chatterton carved through the Bulldogs lineup putting up ten strikeouts en route to a 3-0 Auburn victory. Chatterton retired the first twelve hitters that stepped in the box, after he gave up a leadoff double to Jake Souders in the fifth, Chatterton answered back and sent the next three hitters back to their dugout.
Chris Rembert continued his hot hitting and went 2-for-4 while being brought in twice. Rembert recently won SEC Player of the Week and continues to rake for the Tigers.
The Samford bats went completely cold tonight, only putting up a two in the hits column, one coming from Jake Souders and the other off the bat of Matthew Strand. The Bulldogs only had three baserunners all game and never had more than one on base at a time.
With this win, Auburn takes their 80th win all-time against Samford on the diamond while also advancing to 29-9 on the road when playing the Bulldogs.
Friday, May 2 is when Auburn will head up to Knoxville to matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers and look to get their sixth series win in conference play. Tennessee dropped their weekend series to LSU after being run-ruled in the rubber match on Sunday.
