Auburn looks to keep streak alive against Texas A&M

Auburn (16-8, 1-5) pays a visit to College Station to take on another top-ten opponent in the Texas A&M Aggies (22-3, 3-3).  Auburn is coming off two straight wins after a midweek mercy rule of Jacksonville State in a midweek victory to tack on to their first conference win when they dodged a home sweep of the number one naked Arkansas Razorbacks with a Sunday win.

Auburn will play its third conference series all of which have come against top ten ranked opponents. Number four Texas A&M has made its mark as one of the top programs in the country, while they sit at 3-3 in the conference they are 22-3 overall with their only three losses coming in a visit to Florida and one home to Mississippi State, two top 25 programs.

"Texas A&M, it's going to be one of the best environments in college baseball," Head Coach Butch Thompson said "They're absolutely one of the best teams out there. It's just going to be this way every week.”

Senior transfer Jackson Appel has made a splash in his first year in the SEC he leads the Aggies with a .373 batting average, while Jace LaViolette and Braden Montgomery are tied for the team lead in Home Runs with both having put 12 out of the park. Montgomery also leads the team and SEC in RBIs with 40. These three will be a tall task for the Auburn pitching staff as they look to pull off an upset.

Auburn will look to win in a close game as their last four games have been decided by a total of seven runs. They allow the highest batting average in the league as opponents hit .260 against the Tigers’ pitching. Auburn’s staff ranks middle to bottom of the SEC in almost every pitching category, an area that will need to improve, fast for the Tigers.

Auburn will look to Cooper McMurray on offense; he ranks fourth in the SEC in RBIs with 36 so far on the season. McMurray has been the hot hand for the Tigers in his last two games he is 3 of 4 from the plate reaching eight times over the last two games in that span he's also recorded two home runs and eight RBIs.

Another player to watch will be Junior Pitcher Connor McBride. McBride is slated to start the series opener. So far this season he has racked up three wins over his one loss while recording an impressive 2.38 ERA. Auburn will look to McBride to get off to a hot start in the difficult series to come.

The Tigers will square off starting Thursday, March 28th and the three games set will be played through Saturday, March 30th with the 28th and 29th first pitch at 6 PM central time and Saturday's finale will be a 7 PM first pitch. All games will be streaming on the SECN+ in conjunction with the Auburn Sports Network.
