Auburn look to win fifth straight over Jaguars

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn (13-6-1) will make the short trip to Montgomery to take on South Alabama (8-12) in search of their fifth straight win over the Jaguars.

After only winning five of the last nine games, the Tigers will look to get back on track. Luckily for Auburn, midweek games have been a constant strength this year, as the squad has gone 5-0 this year.

Drew Nelson is expected to be on the mound for Auburn in the matchup. It will be the second start of the year for the freshman after logging multiple appearances in relief this year. Nelson will look to build off his lone outing against Arkansas where he did not give up a single hit.

For Auburn as a whole it will be a very different story than Nelson. The Tigers were swept by Arkansas this past weekend, getting outscored 21-7 over the three game series.

"Stay the course, stay in the fight, but you have to fight. We have to make sure we are fighting," Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. "We are capable of playing a better game. We are capable of doing more. We have to realize that, understand that and not sit around and feel sorry for ourselves. We'll get back on that field and keep working."

Kason Howell will try to improve the effort put forward against Arkansas that saw him get three hits while batting in an RBI. Howell has slowly begun to find footing as they season has progressed and should continue on that track throughout the next couple of series.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.
