Auburn faces Alabama A&M in final home game before road trip

Auburn Volleyball is 4-0 and looking to make it 5-0 as Alabama A&M(0-6) enters Neville Arena on Tuesday.  This will be the Tigers' final home match before they hit the road for eight straight matches.

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs have struggled out of the gate this season, winning just one set in their first six matches, including three consecutive sweeps this past weekend. The Bulldogs opened the season with 2022 FAU Invitational, facing off with Florida Atlantic, Lehigh University and Mercer.

The next weekend, the team was swept in the Skyhawk Invitational by Tennessee-Martin, Arkansas State and Western Illinois, the last of which was the most competitive match of the invitational.

The key to Auburn's solid start to the year has been a dominant offense that is always on the attack and avoiding unforced errors, two things that Alabama A&M has struggled with this season.

The Bulldogs have 161 kills and 113 errors, compared to the Tigers' 173 kills and 62 errors. That is good for 8.5 kills per set compared to Auburn's 12.4.

The difference in this match will be at the net, and Auburn has a clear advantage with Kendal Kemp leading the charge and leading the team in blocks. In just four matches this season, the Tigers have 40.5 blocks, while the Bulldogs have just 22. Alabama A&M does not have a single player over six feet this year, while the Tigers' have nine.

Auburn has never lost to the Bulldogs, winning six straight against them, and looking to make it seven-in-a-row on Tuesday night.

Tuesday's match between the Tigers and Bulldogs is set to begin at 7 p.m. CST. The match will be broadcasted live on WEGL 91.1 FM and on weglfm.com, in conjunction with the Auburn Sports Network.
