Auburn Knocks Off Old Dominion In 2022 Opener

The Auburn Tigers took on the Old Dominion Monarchs at the Auburn Soccer Complex tonight in the first matchup of the 2022 season. 

Auburn is looking to build off of a 12-7-1 season in 2021 that ended with 2-0 loss to the Samford Bulldogs at home in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Old Dominion had a good year in 2021, finishing with a 13-5-1 record and winning the Conference USA Championship.

The first half finished with a nil-nil tie. Old Dominion took three shots, one of them being on goal. Auburn took five shots, none of them being on goal. Tigers keeper Maddie Prohaska made the only save of the first half. Both teams had one corner kick.

Auburn midfielder Anna Haddock scored the one and only goal of the game at the 53 minute mark.

A yellow card was called on Yuliia Charystiuk of Old Dominion at the 77 minute mark.

Auburn finished the game with 13 shots, Old Dominion finished with four. Auburn finished with three shots on goal, Old Dominion finished with one. Auburn finished with 10 fouls, Old Dominion finished with 14. Auburn finished with four corner kicks, Old Dominion finished with two. 

Auburn goal keeper Maddie Prohaska made the only save necessary in this one for the Tigers. Old Dominion goal keeper made two out of three saves and had one goal against.

Auburn will be back in action this Sunday at 2:00 P.M. They will take on the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. The game will be broadcasted on WEGL 91.1 FM.
