No. 1 South Carolina dominates Auburn in 75-38 victory

Coach J and the Auburn Women’s Basketball Team traveled up to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks at Colonial Life Arena. Auburn came into this one after a 83-77 loss to Florida at home Monday night. South Carolina came into this game after 72-51 win over the No. 21 Georgia Bulldogs at Stegman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia on Sunday. 

Auburn had a tough time tonight, losing 75-38. Aicha Coulibaly led Auburn in points and rebounds, recording nine of each. Mar’shaun Bostic led Auburn in assists with two. South Carolina’s leading scorer was Xia Cook, who put up 20 points. Saniya led the Gamecocks in assists with five. South Carolina’s leading rebounder was Aliyah Boston who had 12. Auburn shot 29 percent from the field, 10 percent from three-point range, and 16.7 percent at the free-throw line. South Carolina shot 43.2 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from three-point range, and 60 percent from the free-throw line. A bright spot for Auburn in this contest was only turning the ball over seven times compared to South Carolina’s 12.

After the game, Auburn head coach Johnnie Harris said, “We took some quick shots that were not in our plan, then we took some bad shots. We have very little room for error, and we made a lot of those errors tonight.”

Auburn will be back in action against the Georgia Bulldogs at home this Sunday at 11:00 am.
