No. 23 Auburn dominates in 2-0 victory over Florida

The No. 23 Auburn Tigers hosted the Florida Gators over at the Auburn Soccer Complex this afternoon. Auburn was looking to improve to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in the SEC on the year. Florida was looking to bring their record to 4-8-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the SEC. 

Auburn’s last contest was a 1-0 overtime win over LSU last Sunday at the Auburn Soccer Complex. Florida’s last contest was a 3-2 loss to the Missouri Tigers. 

I had the privilege of being in studio for this contest, Noah Phillips and Gavin Rankins were on the call over at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The game was all tied up 0-0 at the half. 

In the first half, Auburn had 15 shots, three shots on goal, no saves were needed, four fouls, three corner kicks, and they were called for being off-sides once. For Florida, they had no shots in the first half, which means no shots on goal. Florda goal-keeper Alexa Goldberg made three saves in the first half. The Gators also had six fouls called on them by the halfway point. 

Auburn took a 1-0 lead at the 51:38-mark on a goal from Marissa Arias. The goal was assisted by Anna Haddock and Mallory Mooney. Another Auburn goal was scored by Sidney Richards at the 71:11-mark. The goal was also assisted by Anna Haddock. 

The final stats for Auburn are 25 shots, 11 shots on goal, only one save was needed, eight fouls, eight corners, and two offsides calls. Florida’s final stats are two shots, one shot on goal, nine saves, nine fouls, and one corner. Auburn is in action this Thursday night, when they host the 6th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks at 6:30 pm.
