Auburn Falls in Straight Sets to Tennessee

Auburn Volleyball (0-7) drops in straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) to Tennessee (3-4) Wednesday night at the Auburn Arena. Head Coach Brent Crouch is still looking for the first win of his Auburn career since the departure of Rick Nold a year ago, who finished 1-17 in conference play. The Tigers struggled again giving away points at the net and service line totaling 11 on the night. Tennessee dominated on the attack, recording 48 kills on the night compared to Auburn’s 25.

In the first set, both teams struggled at the service line recording a combine 7 service errors. After trading points early on, Lily Felts took control of the court for the Volunteers recording five of the teams 16 kills in the set. Tennessee finished with twice the amount of kills Auburn had giving them the five point advantage in the end.

The second set followed suit from the first as the Volunteers went ahead early and kept their lead through the end of the set to win by seven. The last point of the second was capped by an Auburn attack error and gave Tennessee the set victory.

In the Final set, the home team Tigers jumped out to an early 5-2 lead but the Volunteer attack did not let up. Raquel Perinar let the team with three blocks and Lily Felts dominated the Tennessee attack with 18 kills on the night. Auburn did show some life from Tatum Shipes who finished with eight kills and Audrey Douglas who recorded three blocks.
