Series History: Auburn-Ole Miss

  

Auburn looks to bounce back from its loss against South Carolina as the Tigers travel to Oxford to take on Ole Miss this weekend. Saturday’s game will be the 45th meeting between Auburn and Ole Miss.

The two teams first played each other in 1928 in a neutral-site game in Birmingham, with Ole Miss winning 19-0. 

Auburn leads the all-time series against Ole Miss with a 33-11 record. Auburn is 16-3 in games played at Auburn and 12-3 in games played at Oxford. The teams have split their 10 neutral-site matchups, with each having a 5-5 record.

Auburn has won four straight games over Ole Miss, outscoring the Rebels 135-82 in those meetings. Last season, Auburn won at home against Ole Miss 20-14 and won 31-16 in the last matchup in Oxford in 2018. In the 10 games against Ole Miss with Gus Malzahn on Auburn’s staff as Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator, the Tigers’ leading rusher has averaged 157.3 yards in those matchups. Auburn is also 9-1 in these 10 games.

Ole Miss’ last win over Auburn was in 2015 when the Rebels won 27-19 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Rebels were led by Laquon Treadwell’s seven receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Both teams look to rebound after losses this past weekend. Auburn (2-2) fell out of the AP Poll Top 25 after its loss against South Carolina, while Ole Miss (1-3) lost 33-21 on the road against Arkansas. Kickoff is set for 11:00 CT Saturday and the game can be seen on SEC Network.
