The Auburn volleyball team is back in action in Auburn Arena this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. when they host the LSU Tigers. It will be the second time in four matches that these two Tigers do battle. In their last time in action, Wednesday night in College Station, TX Auburn dropped the match against Texas A&M. LSU is coming off a loss against Florida on Friday night and currently sits at 13-11 overall and 7-7 in SEC play. Meanwhile, Auburn has been inconsistent during SEC play and is still searching for their first conference win of the year. Auburn has played very well at times but has yet to find a way to string together three sets of winning play.
Tatum Shipes has been one of the most consistent players on the squad this year ranking first in kills and total points and second in blocks on the team. Payton White leads the team in digs, while junior setter Morgan Kull leads the way in assists. Junior Taylor Bannister leads the way for LSU with 355 kills this season. Freshman outside hitter Samarah Hill has earned conference honors for Freshman of the Week twice this season, including last week when she recorded a career high 20 kills in LSU's upset win over Texas A&M. Raigen Cianciulli leads LSU's defense with 378 digs on the year. The game can be heard on WEGL 91.1 FM with pregame coverage starting at 1:15 p.m. Jovan Cutler and Gavin Rankins will have the live call from Auburn Arena.
For months the station has waited, but it all comes to an end this Saturday. WEGL Radio is up for 10 different awards, nine from the 2020 IBS Awards in New York and one from the ABBY Awards in Birmingham, Alabama.
