Auburn Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to Georgia

Auburn fell to Georgia in four sets in a tightly contested matchup at Auburn Arena.

The first set of the match began with Auburn and Georgia battling back and forth until the Bulldogs pulled ahead by as many as five points. Auburn was down 18-13 before battling back to tie the set at 21. Auburn extended the set before falling 27-25.

After being tied at four early in set two, Georgia scored five consecutive points and Auburn was unable to battle back from the deficit. The Bulldogs shared the wealth early as five different players had four or more kills. Georgia won the second set 25-15.

Set three was another back and forth battle between the two teams as Auburn took an early lead before a 6-1 scoring run by Georgia which Auburn answered with a 5-0 run of their own. Tatum Shipes was credited with three of those five points with a kill and two blocks on consecutive points. 

Auburn and Georgia were tied at 24 before the Tigers scored two points in a row to win the set and extend the match.

The final set did not go Auburn's way as they were never able to get a lead after falling behind 10-5 early. Georgia won the set 25-17 and the match 3-1.

Auburn had 11 blocks compared to Georgia's three. Jaeden Brown led the Tigers in blocks with five.

Auburn's kill leader was Lily Thomason with 14. She was efficient as well with a .238 hit percentage. Tatum Shipes was second in kills with 12 and also added three blocks.

Morgan Kull led Auburn in assists with 33. Bella Rosenthall recorded 26 digs to lead the Tigers.

Auburn looks to rebound when they travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on Friday, October 25 at 8 p.m.
