Auburn Set to Face Off Against In-State Foe Troy

Auburn Soccer will host in-state foe Troy for their second home game of the season. They defeated Syracuse 2-0 on Thursday in their home opener. Troy heads to Auburn boasting a 3-0-2 record.

Auburn and Troy have faced off three times in their history with the Tigers winning all three. The most recent matchup came in 2013 with Auburn winning 3-0.

Against Syracuse, Auburn performed well offensively and defensively. Offensively, Auburn had 27 shots total and 18 in the second half. 12 of the 27 shots were on goal.

On the defensive side, Auburn did not give Syracuse much of a chance to score only allowing seven total shots and two on goal. Kate Hart improved from her game against Virginia Tech where she allowed three goals. She had two saves against Syracuse.

Troy started off their season strong in the Trojan Classic and Jaguar Classic. They have victories over Jackson State, Stetson and Jacksonville State.

Auburn’s leading goal scorer so far is senior Bri Folds with three goals. Jessie Gerow and Sarah Houchin have two goals apiece. Riley Petcosky leads the team in assists with two.

Kiersten Edlund and Nathali Dasilva lead the Trojans in goals scored with three each. Troy has had seven different players score a goal this season.

Auburn and Troy will face off on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. live on WEGL 91.1 FM or weglfm.com. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45.
