Auburn Clashes with Old Dominion to Scoreless Draw

Auburn and Old Dominion battled to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon in Norfolk, Virginia. The match against Old Dominion concludes Auburn’s non-conference schedule for the season, in which the team went (3-3-2).

Auburn outshot Old Dominion 12-10, with freshman forward Sydney Richards leading the Tigers with four shot attempts. Forward Hailey Whitaker had Auburn’s lone shot on goal, which was tipped over the crossbar in the final minute of regulation.

Auburn goalkeeper Kate Hart saved both shots that she faced, including a diving save in the 69thminute. With the shutout, Hart and the Auburn backline have four shutouts on the season and have a 210-minute shutout streak dating back to the fourth minute of the Kentucky match.

This was Auburn’s second straight double-overtime match, as the Tigers defeated Kentucky 2-1 in double-overtime last match.

With the draw, Auburn is the first team to earn a result this season at Old Dominion.

The 0-0 draw brings Auburn’s record to (4-3-2, 1-0-0), while Old Dominion is now (6-1-2, 0-1-0).

Auburn returns to the Auburn Soccer Complex for the SEC home opener against Tennessee this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT. You can listen to the game live on WEGL 91.1 FM and online at weglfm.com.
