Two Auburn Women's Basketball players named to Preseason All-SEC Team

Senior Janiah McKay and sophomore Unique Thompson were both named to the Preseason All-SEC second team. This is the first preseason All-SEC selection for both players. Auburn was also selected to finish eighth in the SEC. All 14 SEC coaches voted on these selections.

McKay comes into her senior year looking to be a leader as she was the Tiger’s leading scorer in 2017-18 averaging 16.6 points per game. She also led the team in assists with 4.5 per game and was second in steals with 2.3 per game.

Thompson comes off a fantastic freshman season where she averaged 11.5 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. This earned her a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. She tied the Auburn freshman record for double-doubles with seven.

Auburn opens the season Tuesday, November 6, against Grambling State in Auburn Arena. The Tigers will also compete in the Preseason Women’s NIT early in the season.
