Auburn volleyball completes weekend sweep, downs Arkansas 3-0

The Auburn Tigers (9-11, 2-8 SEC) play host to the Arkansas Razorbacks (10-10, 4-6 SEC) with a lot of back and forth action early in the first set with 4 Auburn players already with kills as the Tigers are the 1st to 10 points. Auburn later on begin to break away from the Razorbacks as coach Jason Watson having to call 2 quick timeouts.

Anna Stevenson, Brenna Mcilroy, and Tatum Shipes each with 4 kills as Auburn went up 22-14. The Auburn front line did not look back as they went on to score the 3 quick points taking the first set 25-17.

With Auburn winning their last 4 of 6 sets, the difference has been night and day since beginning conference play. The second set beginning similar to the first with both teams trading points until the Tigers again began to break away from the Razorbacks as they go up 15-10. 

Both Tatum Shipes and Anna Stevenson making a big impact in this second set each recording 7 kills making Razorbacks head coach Jason Watson call the first timeout of the 2nd set.

To no effect, the Tigers kept their momentum bringing things to match point and winning 25-20 off of a block at the net from Auburn putting them up 2 sets to 0. 

The beginning of the 3rd set was controlled by Arkansas with Hailey Dirrgyl recording her 7th kill of the match putting the Razorbacks up 10-6. With a timeout called Rick Nold regrouped his team as the Tigers scored the next few tying the set at 16 all. From that point forward, Auburn and Arkansas traded points all the way to match point and then some in this win by 2 format. 

With Auburn calling one final timeout before the end of the set, it was with the final kill to seal the deal for the Tigers by a score of 30-28. Auburn improves to 3-8 in conference play while sending the Razorbacks to 4-7.

This Wednesday Auburn Volleyball takes on Texas A&M at the Auburn Arena with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45CT and first serve at 7CT.
