Auburn on the Rise in Latest Bracketology Release

AUBURN, Ala. (WEGL) - March Madness is on the horizon, and Auburn basketball fans have enjoyed this Cinderella season, which has been made even sweeter in the latest tournament projections released.

According to CBS Sports, the Tigers are projected to be the number 5 overall seed in this year’s NCAA basketball tournament. As things stand currently, Auburn would be placed in the Midwest region of the bracket at the number 2 seed. They would play number 15 seed Bucknell in Nashville during the first round. Xavier (3 overall seed) is the projected number 1 seed in the Midwest region.

Auburn, led by coach Bruce Pearl, currently leads the SEC with a 22-3 record (10-2 in conference play). This fast-paced team, led by sharpshooters such as Bryce Brown and Mustapha Heron, as well as floor general point guard Jared Harper, are first in the SEC and tied for eighth nationally with 85.7 PPG this season.

Brown (16.6 PPG) and Heron (16.3 PPG) are both top in the top 10 for points per game, and Harper (6.0 APG) is tied for first in the SEC in assists per game with LSU’s Tremont Waters.

The Tigers next game is Wednesday night at Auburn Arena versus the Kentucky Wildcats (17-8 overall, 6-6 in conference play) at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
