Auburn kicked off the New Year with a Tiger battle. Dawning their white uniforms, Auburn played host to Missouri while in search of their first conference win after falling to defeat Ole Miss in the opening game of SEC play. The game was a struggle all around for Auburn as they would ultimately remain winless in SEC play, losing by a score of 62-56 at Neville Arena.

The crowd was the loud, the band was playing at its best. Everyone was waiting for one moment. Honesty Scott-Grayson would show off her best spin move and battle against two defenders to draw the foul. She would step to the line; Neville Arena drew silent to the point a pen dropping could be heard throughout the building. Scott-Grayson would shoot and make the free throw. The moment everyone had been waiting for, Scott-Grayson’s 31st point of the night, a new career high. The senior would captivate all eyes in the arena with her play as she led the Tigers to a 79-63 win over North Carolina A&T for their fifth straight victory.

Auburn, AL - Auburn women’s basketball opened their season against Sam Houston Tuesday night. In a year where the Tigers look to redeem themselves after losing eight of the last nine games to close out the previous season, the team needed a win to begin this year. Some might say this team needed a birthday wish to come true for a win to happen on opening night. Well, Auburn’s wish was answered, this time by none other than Auburns’ own Aicha Coulibaly. Behind a dominate performance from the junior, Auburn would go on to secure their first victory of the season by a score of 90-76 against Sam Houston on the night of head coach Johnnie Harris’s birthday.

Auburn, AL - Coming off a disappointing season where the Auburn Tigers went 10-18, dropping eight of the last nine games, Coach Johnnie Harris looks to lead the Tigers to victory in a highly anticipated season. The Auburn women’s basketball team gave us a first look into what the upcoming year could entail by facing off against the highly rated Division II Tuskegee Golden Tigers. Despite a valiant effort from Tuskegee, Auburn was able to come out victorious 81-59 at Neville Arena.

Auburn put together what may be the most rollercoaster win to date this year in the first match of the weekend. The Tigers dropped the first two sets but were able to put together three impressive sets to gain their only win of the two-match series (21-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-12).
