Major: Computer science
Position: News Director
How did you find out about WEGL?
"My co-host and I went to high school together and we used to jokingly kick around bad podcast ideas. We got here, he went to a WEGL interest meeting and convinced me to actually follow through on one of our ideas with him. We're still on the same "bad" idea to this day."
What made you want to apply for your position?
"At the end of my freshman year, I (inadvisably) applied for station manager. This was a bad idea on a number of levels, and I'm glad someone far more qualified than me got the job. After that process, I still wanted to get more involved and the news director position was open. It was a pretty natural fit as I'm a talk host and the news director is over that department."
Favorite WEGL Memory:
"It's difficult to choose, I remember the first time I felt good about a show after leaving the studio, the first dinner I had with the staff, things like that. If I have to pick one, it is the time some of the staff procrastinated from our exams by recording a "Christmas" album in the bullpen over the course of a few hours. Heavy emphasis on the quotes around Christmas. It was a strange night filled with bad singing, unexpectedly good singing, and egregious amounts of bass boost. Weirdly, coming together to do something that was objectively a waste of time was one of the times I've felt closest with the friends I've made here."
Favorite Song Lyric:
"And the truth is we don't know anything" Ana Ng - They Might Be Giants
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Ween - The Mollusk
"There's something that's hard to grasp about this album. I've listened to it many times in different settings and situations, and it's never felt out of place. It's also never felt stale to me, I feel like I hear something new and feel something different every time I listen to it. It's ween's best album and one of my all time favorites. Also, it has ocean man. Can't forget that part."
