Auburn's Late Defensive Stand Preserves Tough Win

·

In a game not decided until the final seconds, Auburn picked up a 4 point win over St. Joseph's 66-62.  Freshmen Lauren Hansen and Annie Hughes both came up with key plays for the Tigers and senior Unique Thompson iced the game with two free throws with 7 seconds to play.

Ode to the Auburn Defense

Throughout the past couple of seasons, the identity of Auburn football has slowly become that of a defensive team, led by 4th year coordinator Kevin Steele. Despite the presence of Head Coach and offensive guru Gus Malzahn, who created some incredible offenses in 2010 and 2013, the defense has recently taken center stage for the Tigers.

Auburn Offensive Grades and Outlook

Through 9 games this season, the Auburn offense has had its fair share of ups and downs. In those 9 games the Tigers offense have alternated between being downright explosive and struggling to move the ball 10 yards downfield.

Auburn Basketball's Early Season Offensive Struggles

Auburn Basketball has gotten off to a fast start by opening the season 3-0. The Tigers scored 83, 76 and 70 points in the wins, respectively. This is an average of 76.3 points per game which is a good compliment to a defense allowing only 69.7 points per game. Auburn has struggled to protect the basketball and make free throws so far this season, though.

Auburn Filling in the Holes

Freshman Annie Hughes and sophomore Brooke Moore make a big impact for Tigers in first game of the season. It may have seemed tough for the Tigers to replace the talent lost, but Hughes and Moore were ready for the challenge. Auburn gets its first victory against Wofford despite having to play several freshmen during the game.
