The No. 17 Auburn Tigers traveled to Starkville, MS to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Dudy Noble Field. Auburn came into this series after taking two out of three games against the No. 12 Vanderbilt Commodores at home last weekend and beating the Samford Bulldogs at home on Tuesday night. Mississippi State came into this series after getting swept by the No. 15 LSU Tigers at home last weekend and beating the UAB Blazers at home on Tuesday night.

On a Saturday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas, the Auburn Tigers were making history. They would be competing in the gymnastics national championship meet against three very storied programs in colligate gymnastics. A year of trials and success would all come down to one final meet against three of the top four teams in the nation.

After beating Mercer in six innings, the No. 19 Auburn Tigers (32-9) (7-8 SEC) came back to Jane B. Moore Field to take on the Niagara Purple Eagles (11-16) (5-3 MAAC) in a doubleheader on Friday April 15th. Auburn dominated the day winning the first game 8-0 in six innings and the second game 15-7 in five innings thanks to 26 total hits on the day, and riding fast starts to victory.

In a season full of historic moments, Auburn has made history again. The Tigers are heading to the Final Four for the first time ever, after placing second in the final semifinal behind the Florida Gators. Florida led the pack with a score of 197.9750 while Auburn was right behind at 197.8375.

On a Tuesday night at Plainsman Park for “Bark in the Park” night, it was fitting for the Auburn Tigers to be taking on the Samford Bulldogs in a mid-week showdown of the in-state teams. The Bulldogs started it off early with taking two early walks followed by a 6-4-3 double play hit by Kaden Dreier that brought in the Bulldogs only run of the game. That was all the scoring the Bulldogs would have for the evening. For the rest of the game, Auburn’s pitchers would have seventeen strikeouts only allowing three hits from the Bulldogs for the rest of the game.

Auburn had their annual inner-squad “A-Day” game today inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. The biggest question going into today was who will get the most playing time at the quarterback position. The new look of the defense was also a big talking point.

This week’s staff spotlight goes to WEGL’s own Dylan Basden! Dylan is currently studying Business Management with a focus in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. He has been with WEGL for three years, going on four, as a concert photographer and live events director. Dylan also currently directs all of WEGL’s Concerts on Campus events.

The Auburn Tigers traveled up to Birmingham, AL yesterday to take on the UAB Blazers at Regions Field for a one-game contest. Mason Barnett was the starting pitcher for Auburn and Thomas Ballard was the starting pitcher for UAB.

After beating Alabama State, the No. 17 Auburn Tigers softball team (29-6) (7-5 SEC) stayed home in Jane B. Moore Field to take on the No. 7 Florida Gators (30-6) (7-5 SEC) in what was a heavyweight matchup, that ended in a series win for the Florida Gators who just beat the Tigers 2-1.

Auburn competed in the NCAA tournament Round of 16 this evening at Neville Arena. The competition was against Florida, Kentucky, and Denver. The top two scoring teams would advance to the National Championships in Fort Worth, TX starting April 14th. Auburn came into this round after advancing on Thursday.

The Auburn Tigers traveled down to Baton Rouge, LA to take on the No. 12 LSU Tigers in a three-game series this weekend. Auburn came into this set after taking two out of three games against Texas A&M in College Station, TX last weekend. Auburn also dropped a game against Jacksonville State 5-2 on Tuesday Night. LSU came into this set after winning two out of three games against Florida in Gainesville last weekend and beating ULM 15-4 on Tuesday.

AUBURN, Ala.—It had been three years since Auburn Gymnastics participated in an NCAA Regional event. The 2020 season came to an end due to COVID-19 and positive tests within the program kept the team out of the Regionals in 2021.

This week’s featured DJ is Davis Carroll, a junior studying law and justice at Auburn. Davis joined WEGL during his freshman year and has been a DJ for three years since. He currently runs two radio shows: Are You With That?, a hip hop and R&B music show, and Thru the Lens, a movie podcast alongside fellow DJ Alex Husting. Both shows currently run every Monday –Thru the Lens airing from 11 AM-1 PM and Are You With That? airing from 4-5 PM.

Auburn came into this set after winning two out of three games against South Carolina at home last weekend. Kentucky came into this set after losing two out of three games to the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, AL last weekend and dropping one game to the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners at home in Lexington.
